Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This exquisitely illustrated, large format gift book features ten of the most enduring fairy tales of all time. The stories, chosen and edited by the artist, are a balance of 'princess' classics and frolicking adventure tales.

Artist Scott Gustafson spent more than four years creating the seventy-five rich oil paintings, reproduced here in full color. His style is reminiscent of N.C. Wyeth and Wyeth;s gifted student Jessie Wilcox Smith (plus a touch of Arthur Rackham in the fairies). The rounded-face, glowing children and charming interiors contribute to Gustafson?s unique and contemporary style, which will capture the hearts of even the most hard-boiled media-savvy child.

5 out of 5 stars Practically perfect in every way   December 1, 2008
I have always loved fairytales more than any other genre, and picked up this book for my four year old son. I was pleasantly suprised with the beautiful illustrations and their enduring attention to detail. The text is a bit old-fashioned, which I think is a good thing- it makes me feel like we've transported to the time when the story is taking place. My son sits still for long stretches of time while I read the stories to him- a huge feat for a four year old.
I love this book- and I would recommend it to anybody with small kids.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book   November 16, 2007
I searched everywhere for a book of Fairy Tales. They just didn't seem to exist anymore! I finally found this one. It is beautiful. Big bright pictures, and the stories are just like I remember them from when I was a little girl.

5 out of 5 stars Awsome illustrations!   November 11, 2007
I bought this book specifically for the illustrations. I wanted my kids to have something wonderful to look at while I read the stories to them. The book is large and the pictures wonderful. The perfect toddler's book!

5 out of 5 stars Great beautiful book   October 20, 2007
I loved the book. It features classical fairy tales that have not been "modernised" beyond the point of loosing their original morals. That makes the stories a bit longer than the standard adaptations in other collections.

What sets it apart though are the super detailed and somewhat old-fashioned classical illustrations. They bring out the magic and mystery of these stories and will delight children with imagination and interest in art.

5 out of 5 stars awesome illistrations   July 7, 2007
the classics with all the unPC violence and gruesome intact just like when we were kids. Refreshingly undisneyfied. THe illustrations are huge and fabulous. this is the fairy tale book to buy. I give it out at all the baby showers.
