Product Description Scott Kelby, author of the best-selling The Digital Photography Book, brings to life his "Photo Recipes" chapter-not just from this book, but from his smash best-selling follow-ups, volumes 2 and 3. In this two-hour video and companion booklet, Scott shows you exactly how it's all done, from scratch, without holding anything back.If you've ever wondered how the pros use natural light, studio light and even direct daylight to get those amazing shots, you'll see it all here, live, as it happens. Most of the shoot takes place in an amazing New York City loft photo studio as Scott re-creates the looks he describes in the book, along with some bonus lighting set-ups that aren't in the book, to create a very special learning experience you won't find anywhere else.Everything is put together from scratch (from studio shots to location shots to product photography), all while the cameras are rolling-you see it all from the very beginning so you'll be able to re-create those same looks without spending thousands on expensive high-end equipment. Best of all, Scott explains everything in simple, plain English, just like he'd tell a friend, using the same casual, conversational style that made his series of books a worldwide sensation. If you've ever wondered "how they do it," you're about to find out in this amazing DVD/book combo that shows how easy this all can be-once you know the secrets.

Great video..now on the iPhone July 17, 2010 Arclight Images (NJ) This is a very useful video and I love watching Scott on D-Town and Kelby Training. If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you may want to get the Photo Recipes Live app, it's the same videos for only $10 !!

All of these "tips" can be found online for free through Scott on DTownTV. Im a huge fan of the Kelby products, but this one let me down big time. The book is basically useless and the 16 tips are 3-4 minutes long each. The DVD cannot be watched with a regular DVD player.
Wish I would have spent my money on a month's worth of KelbyTraining and actually learned something.
At Last ... A Real "How To" Reference Guide May 19, 2010 Dennis Dwyer (Clearwater, FL) If you've been looking for a good "How To" book on setting up shots with lighting, this is the book for you. I've been searching for more years than I care to count for a book that actually shows me how to get that shot. Oh sure, I've purchased many so called "How To" books but they always leave me mostly disappointed. There might be a few tidbits in them that are useful (especially if you're new to photography or portraits) but most times the small descriptions of what to do to get the shot don't even match the images on the page. Scott Kelby's unique writing style and personality are very evident in his Photo Recipes Live Behind the Scenes offering. The detail on the DVD is excellent and the production of the videos is very well done. It's like you're in the studio with him and asked him "hey Scott. How do you set up a macro shot for shooting flowers?" and he starts explaining and showing you how to do it. A marvelous book and learning tool for novices and advanced amateurs alike. The only ding (but I'll get over it) is you have to watch the accompanying DVD on your computer. It won't play in your regular DVD player in your living room. At least I haven't found a way. If you want to expand your photographic education in the area of natural light and flash photography and really learn how to set up those shots for excellent results, buy this book. It is a good companion to Scott Kelby's Digital Photography Boxed Set, Volumes 1, 2, and 3
Great video April 23, 2010 farmer's wife (Pleasant Grove, Ut) I thoroughly enjoyed the short videos that show how a shot was created. As always, Scott Kelby did a great job.
