Product Description
The eagerly awaited companion to the national bestseller The Artist's Way, and The Artist's Way Morning Pages Journal--a year of creativity cartoons and wisdom.

Through her revolutionary books and workshops,Julia Cameron has inspired thousands to pursue their creative dreams.

In The Artist's Way, Julia Cameron addressed a complex subject in a way that has allowed millions of aspiring and working artists to tap into their own creativity. With her companion book The Artist's Way Morning Pages Journal, Cameron focused readers on one of two primary tools in her programs. Now The Artist's Date Book directs readers toward the second tool. Encompassing a year of creativity, with illustrations by Elizabeth Cameron Evans, 365 provocative tasks, and ample inventory space, it is whimsical, inspiring, entertaining, and wise. The book leads readers to involve themselves in daily meetings with their creative self, guiding them to authentic growth, renewal, and confidence.

5 out of 5 stars A record of how we honor ourselves   March 27, 2005
2 out of 5 found this review helpful

In our heady western culture it seems as if people put more energy and time into dating someone else instead of themselves. Julia Cameron's Artist Date book is a journal, memoir, and daily diary that acts as a testament of our self-love. Playful in its design and simple in its guidance. By taking ourselves out on Artist's date we open ourselves, and most critically - our hearts, to receive our natural artistic, soulful, and creative inheritance from the world. The best fiction tales are conceived on a date with oneself because the essence of our true voices are nourished.

1 out of 5 stars disappointed   December 22, 2004

I really like "The Artists Way" program, and struggle to incorporate it into my life. I thought this would be a daily calendar of suggestions and inspiration for incorporating the artist way philosophy into my daily life. Instead it focuses on the concept of the "Artist Date" in a cartoonish trivial way. I realize now that I should have been prepared for it not to be a calendar, but I found it very disappointing and not up to the quality I expected from having read the original book. I will try to return it to Amazon, something I rarely (if ever) do.

1 out of 5 stars amusing but unnecessary   June 24, 2004

the content of this book was very different than what i expected. i was expecting a book full of ideas for the WEEKLY "artist's date," but what i got was a DAILY cartoon book, offering SOME artist's date ideas, but mostly just cute (albeit inspiring) cartoons that don't pertain to the concept of the artist's date. the fact that it was a "daily" book, instead of weekly, is inconsistent with the author's suggestion for the artist's date. upon first glance, i found it both confusing and disappointing. not worth the price.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful companion book for The Artist's Way   May 8, 2003

A great addition to The Artist's Way. This has suggestions for Artist's Dates, inspirational drawings by Julia Cameron's sister, a place to check your morning pages as done and a few lines to comment on whatever, the drawing on the page, what you did on your artist date. This is not meant to take the place of the morning pages but to complement the whole process. Worth the money.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing Fluff   September 30, 2001

I was extremely disappointed by this book. I expected a book full of ideas about what to do for my artist's date which is described in The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. An example of a sample page in this book is Day 52. 1/3 of the page has a cute picture of a dog doing the hula. 9 lines for a person to write on. The bottom inch of the book says, "Cha Cha." There is also a check box that says morning pages done. The book does have cute cartoons and sayings. I think that if all of the content could fit in 10 typed pages. (except for the cartoons). Don't waste your money on this book.
